I hope everyone has a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break! Classes will resume on Monday, April 5th at 7:20a.  Included below are reminders about the Senior Academic Signing Ceremony, course requests for next school year, End of Course Testing, Prom, etc.

Senior Academic Signing Ceremony We are excited to be able to host an Academic Signing Day presentation this year with social distancing guest limits.  This event is to celebrate students' next steps into college or trade training programs.  All seniors were emailed a link to complete a survey to tell the guidance office and Mrs. Stegemann (event coordinator) about which schools/programs they plan to attend.  Please if you work with seniors, post this in wherever you post other class announcements in an event to gather this information so we can move forward with planning.  Thanks for your help!

Event will be held: May 14, 1:00 PM

End of Course Testing

In April we will begin administering the State mandated End of Course Exams to students.  Over the course of their 9th, 10th, and 11th grade school years, students will take State End of Course Exams in English 10, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, US History, and Government.  It is important that students give their best efforts on the End of Course Exams since they are included in Ohio’s Graduation Requirements.

In-person and remote students should plan to be at the high school on testing days for any tested class.  There is no remote option for the End of Course Exams.  The State has said students learning remotely should test in-person.

Our teachers will review for the exams with students but there are also resources online to help them prepare. You can visit https://oh.portal.airast.org/users/students-and-families.stml for more information.

 Testing Schedule

Testing will begin at 7:30a each day

April 13th – English 10 Part 1

April 14th – English 10 Part 2

April 20th – US History

April 21st - Government

April 22nd – Biology

April 27th – Geometry

April 29th – Algebra I

College Credit Plus

If you are interested in the College Credit Plus program, here is important information and resources following the information session that was held on February 25 through University of Cincinnati.

College Credit Plus is a state and college program that requires a high level of coordination between colleges and public high schools.  The first step is to indicate your interest by submitting an Intent to Participate Form (available in the guidance office).  Although the Intent to Participate form is due first to the high school, the college application, testing, and admission process to these programs happens between the student and the college.

The high school assists with the process by helping students navigate to the college application sites, sending required school records, verifying if college courses meet high school graduation requirements, and assisting with high school scheduling needs.

Some years, CNE is able to offer courses for college credit within the high school master schedule.   A student must apply to UC and meet UC's admission and testing requirements to earn college credit for these courses. CNE will publish course offerings later this spring.

The state of Ohio created this website to help families familiarize themselves with the College Credit Plus program. We strongly recommend reviewing the information on this site and reviewing the presentation recording at the following link.

https://www.ohiohighered.org/ccp/students-families

Most students at CNE that take college courses do so through University of Cincinnati so it is important to understand UC's admissions requirements and deadlines if interested in the CCP program at UC.

The meeting recording from UC's February 25th meeting has not yet  been posted to UC's website, but if you missed this meeting and are still interested  in CCP at UC, we recommend checking back this week as UC plans to post a link to the session.  In the meantime, the best place to start is to visit this website so that you and your student understand the admissions process to UC's CCP program.

Please reach out to the high school guidance office with any questions.

Remote learning students will have the option to participate as well.  Teachers monitoring remote learning will reach out to their specific students with more information.

Plastic Bag Collection

The Leo Club is collecting plastic bags that will be melted down and formed into a bench for the school.  There is a bin in the high school lobby to collect bags, more information is below.
