Just a reminder that Friday, March 12th is a Professional Development Day for staff so no school for students.   We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning for the start of the 4th Quarter!

Virtual Scheduling Information Session

Clermont Northeastern High School will host a virtual scheduling information meeting on March 18.  Current high school families should attend from 6:00-6:30, and incoming 9th graders should attend from 6:30-7:00.  Reference materials for incoming 9th graders will be sent home the week of the meeting.  A link will be posted and sent out prior to the event on March 18.  Any questions please contact Mrs. Comisar at comisar_a@cneschools.org

Upcoming Remote Learning Days

March 18th and 19th will be a remote learning days for all students so staff can receive the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  By 9 a.m. each morning high school teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom for students to complete.  Teachers will be available throughout the day to answer questions via email and provide assistance as needed.

We are still required to report attendance on remote learning days so assignment completion will be used to determine whether a student was present or not.  Students will have until midnight each day to complete their assignments.

One Book, One School

In late April we will begin our “One Book, One School” project.  Students will read the book Just Mercy (Adapted for Young Adult Readers) by Brian Stevenson and complete activities related to it in all classes.  The goals of the project are to strengthen our school community through a shared literacy experience and demonstrate to students that literacy spans all content areas.  Our teachers are already hard at work planning lessons and circle activities related to the book.

All students will be given a copy of the book to read and to keep thanks to the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant the High School received.  Additionally, we have been given permission to purchase copies of the book for all families to read along with their students with funds from the grant.  We will have optional activities for families centered around the novel.

If your family would not like to receive a copy of Just Mercy (Adapted for Young Adult Readers) by Brian Stevenson or if your family needs additional copies because your child splits their time between multiple households please visit https://forms.gle/KKJGrbyjdq9u2dFa8 by Friday, March 12th.

College Credit Plus

If you are interested in the College Credit Plus program, here is important information and resources following the information session that was held on February 25 through University of Cincinnati.

College Credit Plus is a state and college program that requires a high level of coordination between colleges and public high schools.  The first step is to indicate your interest by submitting an Intent to Participate Form (available in the guidance office).  Although the Intent to Participate form is due first to the high school, the college application, testing, and admission process to these programs happens between the student and the college.

The high school assists with the process by helping students navigate to the college application sites, sending required school records, verifying if college courses meet high school graduation requirements, and assisting with high school scheduling needs.

Some years, CNE is able to offer courses for college credit within the high school master schedule.   A student must apply to UC and meet UC's admission and testing requirements to earn college credit for these courses. CNE will publish course offerings later this spring.

The state of Ohio created this website to help families familiarize themselves with the College Credit Plus program. We strongly recommend reviewing the information on this site and reviewing the presentation recording at the following link.

https://www.ohiohighered.org/ccp/students-families

Most students at CNE that take college courses do so through University of Cincinnati so it is important to understand UC's admissions requirements and deadlines if interested in the CCP program at UC.

The meeting recording from UC's February 25th meeting has not yet  been posted to UC's website, but if you missed this meeting and are still interested  in CCP at UC, we recommend checking back this week as UC plans to post a link to the session.  In the meantime, the best place to start is to visit this website so that you and your student understand the admissions process to UC's CCP program.

Please reach out to the high school guidance office with any questions.

Remote learning students will have the option to participate as well.  Teachers monitoring remote learning will reach out to their specific students with more information.
