Mrs. Price's Thanksgiving Literacy Tidbit ~~~ Just Say Thank You!
over 2 years ago, T.J. Glassmeyer
Just say Thank You. Take some time to show your gratitude this week. Write a thank-you note to someone. That's right, don't text, snap, tweet it, or leave a voicemail message. Actually, take the time to write it. The time you put into it by writing the note will mean a great deal. Did you know that the first Thank You note can be traced back to the Europeans in the 1400s? They hand-delivered greeting cards to family and friends as a form of social expression
Thank you to Jerry Ferris, John Prazynksi, and Steve Thompson for sharing their stories, experiences, sacrifices, and losses with our students during today's Veterans Day Assembly. We appreciate them taking the time to share their powerful messages with our students.

If you like spooky short stories, Ms.Elliott recommends A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner. Real-life can sometimes be scarier than fiction. Ms. Wayne prefers real-life scenarios and she recommends reading Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson.
Our students got creative in finding ways to carry their books for “Anything but a Backpack Day”.

Mrs. Price's Literacy Tidbit for Thursday!

What do Mrs. Price and Mrs. Reinke have in common besides a degree in Physical Education? Horror, thrillers, and scary tales are not their favorite, however, they don't want to be left out of the reading tidbits. So, here is a quick story from Mrs. Price. When she was a teenager, her mom was reading The Shining by Stephen King with a neighbor. It scared them so much that neither one of them could read the book at night. Maybe that's why many of Stephen King's books have been made into horror movies that are now considered classics.

Mrs. Price's Spooky Reading Tidbit for Wednesday, October 27th!
over 2 years ago, T.J. Glassmeyer
If you like to be startled or intrigued ( not terrified ), then you may like these authors. Ms. Cummins likes to read Roald Dahl's Book of Ghost Stories. Mrs. Comisar prefers a mystery, so she recommended anything from the Nancy Drew Series by Carolyn Keene or From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg. For those of you who like things a little more twisted, then you may like Mrs. Cicchinelli's recommendation of The Lottery by Shirley Jackson or anything from Ms. Campbell's favorite author, Dean Koontz.
Congratulations to the Marching Rockets for tonight’s amazing showcase! It was an awesome performance that capped off a great fall season!

Mrs. Price's Spooky Reading Tidbit for Tuesday!
over 2 years ago, T.J. Glassmeyer
When asked who one of their favorite horror or suspense authors were, Mrs. Stegemann, Ms. Cummins, and Mr. Thompson named Stephen King. Ms. Cummins recommends reading The Shining. Christine was Mrs. Stegemann's recommendation, while Mr. Thompson promotes Salem's Lot or It. Remember, Stephen King's books are usually way scarier than the movies that are made from them.
This week Mrs. Price will be sharing spooking literacy tidbits! Happy Monday!

What do Ms. Salzl, Ms. Miller, Mrs. Cicchinelli, Mr. Thompson, and Baltimore have in common? The answer is Edgar Allen Poe is their favorite creepy author. So if you are interested in a spooky suspense short story or poem, check these out. The Tell-Tale Heart, The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Cask of Amontillado. I mentioned Baltimore today because their football team was named after Poe's poem The Raven and to shout WHO DEY !
